Dear delegates, colleagues, and friends,

On behalf of the Population Approach Group of Malaysia (PAGMAS), the local organizing committee of the 4th Asian Pharmacometrics Network (APN) Symposium 2022, I wish to extend a very warm welcome to you to this online symposium.

I want to thank the APN Council for allowing the PAGMAS to organize this virtual symposium, fellow APN council members for their assistance in many ways, and our generous sponsors. Bravo to the organizing team who works tirelessly in making this happen.

There are many opportunities and challenges in pharmacometrics in the Asian region. The theme for the 4th APN symposium 2022 is “Application of Pharmacometrics in Drug Development and Clinical Practice”. I am tremendously pleased and excited to announce the support of many distinguished pharmacometricians in sharing their knowledge and insights at this symposium.

We are glad that you are here and we wish that this symposium could also provide a platform for young scientists in pharmacometrics to share their work and enhance the regional development in pharmacometrics in the Asian countries.

See you virtually in November 2022 and hopefully, we could meet in person next year.

Associate Professor Lo Yoke Lin

Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 4th APN symposium 2022

Good morning, everyone.

Welcome to the 2022 annual symposium of the Asian Pharmacometrics Network (APN). As APN chair, it is my great pleasure that APN has kept growing and will hold its annual meeting for the 4th time this year. Thank you all for your support and contribution so far to our network to be established.

As you all know by now, APN’s primary mission is to enhance and expand regional development and networking opportunities in pharmacometrics. To accomplish this mission, we have invited speakers from as many Asian countries as possible, thereby encouraging the participation of the general public from all over the region.

Accordingly, for the symposium this year, 18 speakers, including 4 plenary speakers, were invited from 15 countries (11 Asian countries plus UK, Sweden, The Netherlands, and New Zealand) who will present on various topics. We believe such diversity in the country distribution in as many as 11 Asian countries demonstrates that the APN meeting is indeed the unique pan-Asian forum in the region.

In addition to the symposium, the opportunities to participate in satellite workshops will also be provided before or after the symposium, including a 2-day pre-conference workshop on Monolix, especially to encourage the participation of future pharmacometricians in the region.

While the previous APN symposiums, except for the first meeting in 2019 held in person in Bangkok, had to be held online due to the COVID pandemic, I regret to say that we will hold the 2022 symposium online again due to the pandemic which does not come to an end. Nevertheless, I look forward to your constant support and participation to make it another successful event.

Closing the opening remarks, I thank all who worked hard to prepare for the 2022 annual symposium, with my special thanks to Dr. Lo Yoke Lin and her team hosting the symposium, which was originally planned to be held in Malaysia if there were no pandemic.

I hope this symposium will be a useful meeting for everyone and wish we could meet face to face at the 2023 APN symposium.

Thank you for your support,

APN Chair
